Why Stenah

The pieces we live with should mean something.

They should carry the fingerprints of the artisans who built them, the vision of the designer who imagined them, and the stories of the homes they become part of.

Interior designers shape the way people live. Yet when a project is complete, the pieces that define the room usually belong to someone else's brand. Stenah exists to change that.

We bring together exceptional designers and skilled artisans to create furniture, rugs, lighting and hardware with purpose. Stenah coordinates development, manufacturing and logistics through artisan relationships here in the United States and abroad, so designers can turn ideas into enduring collections without sacrificing creative control.

We don't build collections for designers. We build them with designers, placing their name, vision and voice at the center of every piece.

Create your own collection

Turn your ideas into pieces that carry your name. You can begin with a single design. Stenah develops, engineers and prototypes it, and our artisans craft it with care.

Made by hand, by people who care

Behind every Stenah collection are skilled artisans: woodworkers, carvers, upholsterers, metalworkers and finishers, and the dyers and weavers who hand-knot our rugs. These are not production lines.

Every curve is shaped by hand.
Every carving carries the mark of its maker.
Every finish is applied with patience and intention.

Our story

It started with one chair

I've loved furniture for as long as I can remember.

Years ago I became fascinated by how furniture is made: how a piece goes from an idea to something real, who builds it, and how it travels from a workshop to someone's home. I started asking questions, and eventually connected with a manufacturer willing to explore the possibilities with me.

I had an idea for a chair. I found someone to turn it into drawings, took a leap of faith, and that chair became the first piece of furniture I designed, and the first piece Stenah made.

Working in the interior design industry, representing products and supporting the people who create beautiful interiors, I was surrounded by designers with remarkable ideas of their own. Stenah grew from a simple question: what if they could create their own pieces without navigating every step of production, logistics and distribution themselves?

Today Stenah works with manufacturing partners in the United States and abroad, and with a growing community of designers. We're still building, and there is so much more ahead.
